Sleep Away The Blues
I skipped with stretch elastic,
and sucked upon toffee chews,
Life was innocent and magic,
No misery or bad news.
Now the years have rolled on,
And challenges come my way,
I listen to the memory song,
And remember I used to play.
So I put down the electic bill,
and stepped out into the yard,
I found I could still skip a bit,
but finding magic is still hard.
When I sleep at night,
I allow my worries to fade,
The sunshine child is bright,
as she plays with bucket and spade.
So when your days are weary,
or your nights a little unkind,
When memories make you teary,
Go back to childhood in your mind.
