Daydreams Alive

Spaceman, Knight and Soldier
Princess, Queen and Bride,
The world is your oyster,
When you play outside.

Daydreams are alive,
And the fields your stage,
Oh how I remember,
Playing when your age.

I watch now from my window,
As you skip and play,
Little impish child,
You brighten up my day.

A tribute to the children in Cyprus, where it is still safe to run and play outside. They grab sticks and old shoes, their imagination runs wild. I can only speak a little Greek, but I understand their games. The voices of the pretend mother, the gruff father and squeaky baby. They climb trees with no fear, it reminds me of my childhood in the 1960's.

Love the poem. Greeks young and old traditionally love games of all kinds. I could just picture these children at play and enjoy their sense of wonder.

Hi Jo
Thanks for popping in. Today they were running in the new hay field. It had just been cut and any snakes would have run. So the children were climbing hay bales, it was lovely to see glowing, happy faces.

I love this poem Glynis. Thankfully, it is still safe here for children to play outside. I hope that won't change any time soon.
